Castor oil is great for all of your skin, from your scalp to your feet.
There are many studies that have been done about castor oil and it's advantages for over all health. However, on this page I want to share with you just some of its wonderful benefits for skin.
Personally, it has been a life
saver for my dry itchy skin in the winter and for my aging face. When
mixed with Tea Tree oil or Frankincense oil, it is especially healing
and soothing for sore and even raw skin that is itching and burning. It
promotes healing as well.
Simply mix both the castor oil and tea tree oil in the palm of your hand, and then apply to the skin area that needs relief. Rub any remaining oil into your hands for a soothing moisturizing lotion.
When my skin was really bad, before changing some eating habits, I would mix both Frankincense and Tee Tree with Castor oil to get quick relief and healing.
Castor oil is an all natural skin care product and can usually be found at decent prices. In addition, a lot of times it is more effective than most of the expensive specialty products sold on the market today.
There are however some more expensive brands of castor oil, that are processed in specific ways. But the less expensive brands are still very effective.
That is the beauty of castor oil, you can still find it in
organic form at a price that is affordable.
Other than lower cost, the most important benefit is its safety and healthy long term effects on your skin and body.
Our skin is our largest detoxing and receiving organ and whatever we put on it absorbs into our body.
Castor oil is safe for your outer and inner body. Internal use will be covered on another page.
Studies have found that castor oil contains therapeutic components, they include fatty acids, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, amino acids, terpenoids and phytosterols. These many compounds give castor oil the right properties for skin health benefits, such as:
Castor oil is rich in Ricinoleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid, which acts as a humectant to moisturize the skin.
This helps to retain moisture by preventing water loss through the outer layer of the skin.
The compounds also make the oil very beneficial for use in many cosmetics and hair products.
Castor oil is thick, so mixing it with another skin-friendly oil like almond, olive, coconut, tea tree, or frankincense oil will thin it down and make it an ultra-hydrating moisturizer.
Here are some ways you can use castor oil to help your skin. I have used it for several years and have been very pleased with the results.
Some of these are gleaned from several natural remedy books by doctors and other researchers.
